THE ESSENCE OF PIVOT IS TRANSFORMATION!
THE ESSENCE OF PIVOT IS TRANSFORMATION!
All things transform in some way. Newborns grow, cheese ripens, plants turn into flowers, flowers turn into seeds, metal rusts, caterpillars become butterflies, and time flies.
This is a bit different than change. All transformations exhibit change but some changes fail to transform.
One of the most stubborn and persistent issues are the habits of thought that hold the human being back from transformative changes in life and get blocked by thinking traps. The reason is almost always entrenched behaviors.
Behaviors begin with a thought, are enlivened by emotion, and finally show up/express themselves as action.
Real learning that gives rise to new behaviors requires changing the mindset.
This is the great value to our program, “EMOTIONAL MASTERY” in that its underlying foundation rests on learning and experiencing (feeling) the 4 mindsets or perceptions or perspectives that make up the human mind or points of view. Once we learn and experience those fundamental sets of eyes, we acquire the ability to “walk in the other person’s shoes” (Empathy).
The next step in “Mastery” is to practice those mindset shifts on demand in our interaction with others as well as governing our own reactions that are based on our moment to moment experience of someone else’s behaviors.
We are constantly receiving stimulus from life around us and within us, memories of the past and, our projections of the future.
The effectiveness of our program, “Emotional Mastery” is based on the strategy of instilling a small space between the stimulus and the response wherein we examine our perception and CHOOSE the response that would perhaps bring these human forces together (get on the same page) and, frankly, together, find better ways of interacting that would foster real transformation that would lead to better solutions.
“Emotional Mastery” concepts and materials are reflective of what we call “EQ in action” and, when practiced and “rehearsed” present powerful solutions that allow individuals, leaders, teams and organizations to overcome seemingly intractable problems and issues.
Our aim is to facilitate the early recognition of stress behaviors in ourselves and others that will allow for greater patience, psychological safety, and overall cultural engagement.
For us at WorkLife, our behavioral “periodic table of the elements” is the renowned and celebrated and highly regarded and researched Birkman Method assessment. It gives not only our usual behavior or strengths, but also our interest passions that tend to govern what we focus on but also our “needs” or inner motivations that turn into reactive, stress oriented behaviors that “hijack” reason and keep us “stuck” in a sort of emotional blindness.
Once we have these powerful insights into ourselves and others, it becomes only a matter of practice for us to better control it than it controlling us.
